Meet Your Recruitment Counselors!

Panhellenic formal recruitment kicks off in 79 Days!

One of the great benefits of sorority formal recruitment is the recruitment counselor program.  Our recruitment counselors are called Gamma Chi's.

A Gamma Chi is a current sorority women who has chosen to disaffiliate herself from her organization for the recruitment period so she can help you!  Gamma chi's are mentors, unbiased resources of information, confidants and friends!  Each woman who signs up for recruitment will be assigned to a Gamma Chi group with approximately 8-10 other women.
So now we'd like to introduce you to some of our 2012 Gamma Chi's

Name: Ariana
Year: Junior
Major: Legal Studies
Hometown: Newburgh, IN

Hello, everyone! My name is Ariana, and here’s a little bit about how and why I joined Greek Life at UE.

My mother was Greek at Purdue and encouraged me to join Greek Life to meet people. She knew the many benefits of joining: making friends, networking with alum, gaining leadership experience, and participating in philanthropic activities. She even understood that sororities differ from campus to campus and wanted me to join the one I liked rather than the one she belonged to.

What I wanted from Greek Life was to meet people, and going through recruitment was the best opportunity to do so. I met so many people during the process before I even became a member of a sorority! And now I know a bulk of campus, men and women, Greek and unaffiliated. Seeing those faces daily makes me feel a sense of belonging on campus.

I had a difficult time at the beginning of my freshman year. Starting off new is hard ‑ you miss you family and old friends, not having to share a bathroom with 25 other people, and your mom’s cooking. But the best advice I can give is to encourage you to join Greek Life. You find a home away from home, friends who share your values, and a place to thrive during your time at UE.

Can’t wait to see you in the fall!

Name: Shelby
Year: Junior
Major: Double major in Creative Writing and International Studies with a minor in French.
Hometown: Tampa, FL

I'm from Tampa, Florida and when I came to UE I didn't know anyone yet so I decided to go through formal recruitment because I didn't know very much about it, but the idea of it reminded me of my group of friends back home.

The women I met in my sorority were excited to have me join and I haven't regretted it since. I continue to be active in Greek Life because of the valuable friendships I have made, not just in my sorority, but in Greek life as a whole. We are all very different individuals but we all seek the same support from one another in order to achieve our goals. I am also involved in Newman Club and serve as the Co-President.

My family had their concerns about me joining a sorority, because I am the first in my family to go Greek, but they have seen me grow in confidence, responsibility, and leadership and are proud of the woman that I have become through Greek Life.

Name: Sarah
Year: Senior
Major: Secondary Social Studies Education
Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Hi! I'm Sarah! I am involved in multiple campus organizations. I currently serve on the Indiana Student Education Association (Vice President), as an Admissions Ambassador, and am involved in Student Government. My involvement in Greek Life gave me confidence to participate and succeed in these other campus activities. I absolutely love being Greek. I was advised to participate in Recruitment because, whether or not I decided to join a chapter, it provided an opportunity to meet other freshman and upperclassmen. My participation turned out to be my entry into Greek Life.  I have gained a support system and family away from home, that continues to enhance my education as I grow into the woman I wanted to become.

We've got many more Gamma Chi's to introduce you to, so check back often throughout the summer!
